Old Coach Road - Overview
Easily accessible and fantastic bike ride through spectacular scenery with interactive signboards giving you an insight into the area and its history.
The best way to ride this trail is to get our shuttle to Horopito and make the most of the downhill gradient towards Ohakune. The trail traverses Tongariro National Park and the adjacent farmland, with many lookouts over the volcanic plateau. Full of memorable sights along the way - abandoned railway tunnels, ruined viaducts, old bush camps and the remains of the original cobblestone coach road.
Trail Length: 15km / Ride Time: 2-4hrs
We Provide:
- Thorough briefing with up to date information, track condition and emergency information.
- Detailed map and must do sightseeing opportunities along the trail.
- Shuttle Ohakune - Horopito (Track starting point)
