Experience a thrilling 1000 metre descent down one of New Zealand’s most spectacular roads (Ohakune Mountain Road) taking you through the Tongariro National Park, UNESCO World Heritage Areas, to Ohakune township.
On the way down, there is an opportunity to take in the sight of the Tongariro National Park's highest waterfall, the 39 metre Waitonga Falls, which is a return walking track off the Ohakune Mountain Road.
Trail Length: 17km / Ride Time: 30min - 1hr (optional walking track additional 1hr 30min)

What you need to know:
If you plan to do the walking trail it is advised to have your own bike locks. It is a safe area but better to be safe than sorry!
All groups are advised to have their own puncture repair kits - It's a long walk if you get a flat tyre!!
You should also bring snacks or a packed lunch with at least 1litre of water! Remember to also bring any necessary medication.
Even if it is a hot summer's day, remember to pack an extra layer for warmth. The temperature can drop quickly in the afternoons.
